Eastwell Fete

August 20th 2011

In aid of St Michael and All Angels Church

from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm

Eastwell Fete is a truly traditional English country fete. This is the 17th fete as it has been running since 1994 and is held every year in the beautiful grounds of Eastwell Hall and the mediaeval church and churchyard of St Michael and All Angels (See Map). This year we have some really exciting attractions, including displays from a local archery club. Take a look at the programme of events below. We look forwards to seeing you there!

This year we have an exhibition celebrating 400 years of the King James' version of the Bible. This will be held inside the Chruch. The Chuch registers will also be on display together with historic photographs.

STOP PRESS: click here to see our poster. We would be grateful if you could print it out and display it somewhere it will be seen.

Welcome to Eastwell, and a special welcome to our 18th Eastwell Fete.    We hope you have a wonderful day.

If you are a regular, you will know that the Fete is held each year in August in memory of Hazeldean and the Revd Leo Cook, who lived at Eastwell Hall.  Their daughter, Penny, and her husband, George, who now live there, allow us to use the gardens each year, and we are extremely grateful to them, as without them the Fete in its present form could not go ahead.

Hazeldean died at Easter 1994:  she was a staunch member of the church, and the first fete was held that summer to raise badly needed funds for the church.  It has become our main fundraising event of the year.

If there is anything you need, can’t find, etc., please ask at any of the stalls on the gravelled drive in front of the Hall.  Belvoir First Aid will also be there.

So stroll around, relax, withdraw from the 20th century for a few hours;  the church sanctuary is really peaceful and has an atmosphere all its own - we have an exhibition celebrating 400 years of the King James Bible. in the church.     Whatever you do, please enjoy the day:  we hope you find the fete friendly, entertaining, interesting – and stress free.
